BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. - Floridant -- Curran Young Construction won a 2026 Sand Dollar Award for Best Clubhouse – Exterior and Interior for its renovation of Kensington Golf & Country Club, a $15.8 million transformation that modernized the 30-year-old club and enhanced its dining, recreation and social amenities.
Presented annually by the Collier Building Industry Association, the Sand Dollar Awards recognize excellence in building, design and marketing throughout Collier County. The Kensington project was recognized in the Builder/Remodeler category for the integration of the clubhouse's interior and exterior spaces and the project's overall design, functionality and ability to serve the club's membership.
The extensive project included renovation of Kensington's 38,318-square-foot clubhouse, 4,356-square-foot pro shop and 8,719-square-foot maintenance building, along with construction of a new 3,981-square-foot resort-style pool. In total, the project encompassed 55,374 square feet of facilities.

At the heart of the transformation is a reimagined clubhouse designed to improve circulation, functionality and connections between indoor and outdoor spaces. An expansive, light-filled lobby provides sweeping views of the golf course and connects to updated dining venues, lounges and gathering areas. Expanded covered dining, an upgraded kitchen and enhanced service spaces also allow Kensington to accommodate club functions, weddings and nonprofit events for up to 330 guests.
The project also included redesigned locker rooms, an upgraded pro shop and new resort-style pool, creating a cohesive environment designed to support both everyday member use and larger social gatherings.
A central challenge was completing the comprehensive renovation within an active, member-owned country club. The Curran Young team used careful phasing and coordination throughout construction to accommodate club operations while executing improvements across multiple facilities.

The renovation represents the latest phase of Kensington Golf & Country Club's multiyear master plan, which has included outdoor dining, bocce and pickleball, fitness facility improvements and restoration of its par-71 Robert Trent Jones Jr. championship golf course.
The Sand Dollar Awards are CBIA's highest accolades and are presented annually to member builders, developers, architects, remodelers, interior design firms, landscape architects, trade professionals and sales, marketing and advertising professionals who demonstrate excellence in Collier County. For the 2026 awards, entries were evaluated through a virtual judging process conducted by independent industry experts from across Florida. Winners were honored at the Sand Dollar Awards Gala on Sept. 19 at The Ritz-Carlton, Naples.
