NAPLES, Fla. - Floridant -- Warrior Homes of Collier, a nonprofit with a mission of ensuring that no veteran in need is left behind, and The Home Depot Foundation partnered on Oct. 27 to transform the outdoor and indoor spaces at Warrior Homes' newest residence, Zulu Project.

More than 200 volunteers from the Home Depot Foundation and its vendors planted shrubs, painted, constructed walkways, assembled apartment furniture, installed benches, enhanced the recreational area and more.

More than $250,000 worth of goods and services was provided for the project.

The Home Depot Foundation works to improve the homes and lives of U.S. veterans, train skilled tradespeople to fill the labor gap and support communities impacted by natural disasters.

The Zulu Project is the final piece to reaching Functional-Zero status for veteran homelessness in Collier County. It is a 10-unit apartment building that will house 20 veterans beginning later this year. Along with the support of the PulteGroup of Southwest Florida, the nation's third-largest home builder, and other major donors, Warrior Homes of Collier is undertaking this nearly $3 million renovation project.
