ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - Floridant -- VirtForce, SimplrFlex and Act Now Education, three industry leaders focused on connecting military spouses to remote careers, are partnering together to get 50 military spouses, or transitioning service members certified and hired as Professional Scrum Masters (PSM), completely free of cost to the candidate.
VirtForce, the military spouse-owned company that bridges the gap between active-duty military spouses and verified remote careers, helped SimplrFlex identify a nonprofit who could not only prepare military spouses for the certification exam, but work with VirtForce to place them in viable careers once they are certified.
"There is a need for milspouses in (Project Management)," said VirtForce Founder and CEO Kimber Hill. "Through these certifications, 50 military spouses will be able to achieve career continuity. They will never have a problem holding down a profitable job."

SimplrFlex, the company that connects Experts with businesses who need assistance with their customer service, is making this opportunity possible through Act Now Education, a nonprofit that provides comprehensive educational resources and opportunities free to the military community.
Pre-pandemic, military spouses faced a 22% unemployment rate – that's seven times the national average – and a 26% wage gap in comparison to their non-military affiliated counterparts.
"Meanwhile, Fortune 100 companies such as Citibank, Google, Microsoft, and Netflix have dozens of listings for Scrum Masters on their career sites," said Act Now Education CEO and Founder Jai Salters. "Scrum is one of the top 15 emerging roles; companies like Google, Apple, Facebook, Yahoo, and AirBnB utilize the Scrum framework to grow their business. Scrum does not require the same prerequisite as the PMP and provides an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn, become certified Scrum Masters, and land a job."

In 2018, research from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics found demand for certified PSMs grew by 24%. The average salary for a PSM is $97,000 a year, according to payscale.com.
"The talent in the military spouse community is tremendous, and we can't be more thrilled to support this national treasure that is so frequently overlooked and underutilized," said SimplrFlex's Head of Human Cloud Adam Grace. "SimplrFlex is proud to do even more to support the military spouse community by helping these folks find a career in the high-paying, high-demand tech industry as certified Scrum Masters."
