PLANTATION, Fla. - Floridant -- This Thanksgiving, Meals on Wheels South Florida (MOWSOFLO) volunteers aren't just delivering meals; they're delivering a critical connection. Older adults often face the holidays feeling isolated, but a warm meal, a safety check, and a friendly face can change that completely.
With gratitude to community partners including Cigna Healthcare, The American Sewing Guild, The Coral Springs Quilt Guild, and The Southern Stars Quilt Guild, MOWSOFLO is intensifying outreach to Broward County's most vulnerable homebound seniors this holiday.
Who: Nearly 400 homebound seniors who would otherwise spend Thanksgiving alone.
What: MOWSOFLO staff and volunteers fan out across the region on Thanksgiving morning, delivering a complete traditional dinner — roasted turkey, savory stuffing, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, cranberry sauce, dinner rolls, and pumpkin pie — along with homemade placemats and a friendly holiday hello.
