~ Jacksonville, FL - The City of Jacksonville has launched a new app, JaxPawFinder, designed to connect people with pets up for adoption at Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS) in a faster and smarter manner. The app, which works similarly to a dating app, allows users to swipe right to find their perfect furry companion.
According to Michael Bricker, Chief of Animal Care and Protective Services for the City of Jacksonville, the app's goal is to save lives by making better and quicker matches between animals and potential adopters. "We've always said that the right match saves lives," Bricker stated. "With JaxPawFinder, we're using technology to make those matches smarter and faster, giving every animal a better shot at finding their perfect home."
JaxPawFinder is the first AI-powered app developed by the City's Creative Solutions Team. It is now available for download on both the App Store and Google Play. Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan expressed her excitement about the new technology, stating that it combines innovation with compassion. "This is technology with a heart," Deegan said. "It's about using innovation to make compassion even stronger, by harnessing the power of AI to bring pets and people together faster than ever before."

Finding the right pet can be challenging for many individuals due to factors such as home size, energy level, or lifestyle. However, JaxPawFinder aims to make this process easier by acting as a matchmaker for adoptions. Users can enter their preferences for age, size, temperament, or energy level in a pet they would like to adopt. The app then instantly matches them with pets that best fit their criteria.
For more information on JaxPawFinder or to download the app, visit Jacksonville.gov - JaxPawFinder. With this new technology in place, it is hoped that more animals will find their forever homes and live happy lives with their new families.
