NAPLES, Fla. - Floridant -- United Way of Collier County and the Keys ("United Way") has awarded a grant to Legal Aid Service of Collier County ("Legal Aid") in the amount of $50,000 to fund the Housing and Income Preservation Project, one of the financial stability programs funded by United Way for 2020-2021.

This Project will provide vital free civil legal services to at least 100 residents of Collier County in need during 2020 – 2021 who fall within the 'ALICE' population defined by United Way – asset limited, income constrained, and employed.  Legal services will be focused on the high impact areas of housing and income preservation for struggling, hard-working households in need.

United Way of Collier County has generously funded Legal Aid through grants over many years, most recently involving the Housing and Income Preservation Project.  This Project assisted 236 clients between April 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020, generated over $1,986,058 in economic benefits for these Collier County residents in need, and saved 30 families from homelessness.
