VENICE, Italy - Floridant -- "The Tide," a thought-provoking new project by researchers Mat Travizano and Marco Bressan at Biennale Architettura 2025 in Venice, offers a unique window into the perspectives of young generations worldwide, exploring their feelings about the rapidly changing urban landscapes they are inheriting. The Exhibition running from May 10th through November 23rd, 2025 is located across the Arsenale and the Giardini della Biennale.
Visitors to "The Tide" will encounter an environment dynamically reflecting global youth sentiment, sourced ethically and interpreted artistically. The project fosters intergenerational dialogue, helping younger generations participate in decisions shaping their future. "The Tide" confronts the misconception of youth disengagement by bringing their hopes and fears to the forefront—amplifying them to decision-makers and society.
Marco Bressan, focusing on the project's experiential nature, states: "We live in a world where decisions made today will shape generations to come... While young people care deeply, their voices are somehow ignored... One of the most powerful impacts of AI will be mediating in a new many-to-one dialogue. I see 'The Tide' as an early exploration of what that could look like."
The AI-driven experience begins by gathering hopes and fears for the future from young people globally (including X, Instagram, WhatsApp, Reddit, and Telegram). This data trains a specialized AI representing the youth zeitgeist. Visitors engage in real-time voice conversations with this collective AI via interactive "Tide Stations," resembling ocean sensing devices. AI agents filter and participate in the ongoing global discussions, ensuring integrity, with insights translated into multilingual audio experiences. Notably, over 80% of the AI engagement and experience technologies deployed are less than six months old.

Mat Travizano, an artist and technologist focused on turning collective digital expression into participatory systems for change, explains the exhibit's technological core: "We've trained an AI system to capture the complex emotional landscape young people navigate as they confront the future of their cities and planet. Drawing its intelligence from the vast, flowing conversations happening across social media—a digital tide of sentiment—it proposes a new kind of intergenerational dialogue: one that is nuanced, data-driven, and emotionally resonant."
Beyond the Biennale Architettura 2025, The Tide platform is designed for scalability, adaptable for participatory decision-making in policy, urban planning, corporate strategy, and other fields requiring collective intelligence. The physical Tide Stations are built with over 60% recycled materials, featuring modular designs for reusability and minimal environmental impact.
The Tide came to life through the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team including Marco Bressan, Mat Travizano, Ivan Raskovsky (technology lead), Joaquin Bressan and Albert Martinez (technology development), Julia Aleu (production), and Marc Aleu (physical installations).
