"Sunset Strides is a keystone event in raising awareness for mental illness in our community," said Vacharee Howard, CEO of NAMI Southwest Florida. "Every step we take together is a step toward ensuring no one walks alone on their mental health journey."
In past years, participants have walked in memory of a loved one or as a tribute to someone who has helped them in their journey. The event raises awareness and increases mental health literacy by educating walkers on the signs someone is struggling with their mental health and highlighting available resources for those in need.
Walkers will hear empowering stories from members of the community, enjoy live music and have access to a mental wellness resource fair after the walk is finished.
NAMI Southwest Florida supports local individuals and families impacted by mental illness through education, advocacy and treatment resources.
