SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. - Floridant -- The Second Annual Tarpon Tournament at South Seas (https://www.southseas.com/) raised over $200,000 to benefit Folds of Honor during the resort's grand reopening celebration held over Memorial Day weekend. Since 2007, the nonprofit Folds of Honor has provided educational scholarships to the spouses and children of America's fallen and disabled service members and first responders. The proceeds from the tournament will provide over 40 scholarships to benefit local families in Lee County and the surrounding areas of Captiva Island and Sanibel Island. During the tournament, more than 100 anglers hooked and released 49 tarpon off the coast of Captiva Island.
"Our second annual Tarpon Tournament was a huge success, as we raised more than $200,000 to support the mission of Folds of Honor while celebrating our grand reopening and the next chapter at South Seas," said Shawn Farrell, general manager at South Seas. "Not only did our guests enjoy the new resort amenities, the thrill of the competition and a shared love of fishing, but we gathered to honor the selfless sacrifice of America's heroes. It's truly a privilege to play a role in providing so many life-changing scholarships for spouses and children of America's fallen or disabled military."

The celebration weekend kicked off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 22 highlighting South Seas' post-storm improvements, which include enhanced dining options, renovated pools, water sports, beach services, fitness amenities, The Clutch Golf Course, Bayview Pier, the Shops at South Seas and more. Amenities are available to guests with Club Captiva and registered South Seas Resort guests.
Throughout the weekend, families enjoyed new amenities and restaurants, sun-soaked beaches, island adventures and family-friendly activities, including a special tribute to fallen military and first responders featuring the Lee County Sheriff's Office honor guard, military paratroopers, live music, and more.
To commemorate the resort's grand reopening nearly three years after the impact of Hurricane Ian, South Seas (https://www.southseas.com/) has launched special packages for guests looking to book a stay at the world-class resort. The "The Next Chapter Begins" package offers 25% off to guests staying at South Seas for a minimum of two nights through Sept. 30. Guests staying at the resort for seven days or longer can receive up to 35% off their stay with the "7 Days to Play" package.
