JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Floridant -- Snowbird Technologies, a leader in innovative equipment solutions for extreme environments, will participate in the 30th iteration of Rim of the Pacific Exercise 2026 (RIMPAC) as part of the Naval Postgraduate School's Consortium for Advanced Manufacturing Research and Education (CAMRE)'s distributed advanced manufacturing experiment.
Held biennially, RIMPAC 2026 will bring together forces from 31 nations in and around the Hawaiian Islands from June 24 to July 31. The exercise will include approximately 40 surface ships, five submarines, 140 aircraft, and more than 25,000 personnel. CAMRE's advanced manufacturing efforts will utilize the expertise of its researchers and students to bring together over 50 advanced manufacturing nodes into an integrated network capable of producing readiness parts in days, not months. By leveraging its Partnership Intermediary Agreement with FLEETWERX, NPS CAMRE is able to bring industry partners with innovative solutions like Snowbird Technologies into its network.
Snowbird Technologies has been selected to showcase its SAMM Tech portfolio—short for Snowbird Additive Mobile Manufacturing Technology. This patented, modular system integrates metal additive manufacturing, plastic additive manufacturing, and CNC subtractive capabilities into a single, compact, containerized unit. SAMM Tech incorporates leading technologies from Meltio, Slice Engineering, and FANUC to deliver advanced, field-ready manufacturing solutions.

During RIMPAC, SAMM Tech will support operations in transit from U.S. Navy Base San Diego to Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard, before being deployed on-site for the duration of the exercise. Snowbird Technologies previously demonstrated SAMM Tech's capabilities during RIMPAC 2024, including successful at-sea manufacturing aboard the USS Somerset. In one notable instance, the system produced and machined a replacement bushing for the ship's reverse osmosis generator in just 34 hours. Building on that success, the team will expand its role in 2026 to support both at-sea operations and extended shipyard-based manufacturing activities.
"SAMM Tech's containerized, all-in-one design enables seamless transition from maritime to onshore operations," said Karl Wojtkun, Vice President of Business Development at Snowbird Technologies. "We're proud to support the 30th iteration of RIMPAC and look forward to validating our capabilities in new environments to better serve the warfighter at the tactical edge."
As an innovation hub serving the Naval Postgraduate School, FLEETWERX brings government, industry and academia together to accelerate practical solutions for the Navy and Joint Force. As a partnership intermediary, FLEETWERX supported the inclusion of Snowbird in RIMPAC 2026 to further evaluate the expeditionary manufacturing capabilities in maritime environments.

"RIMPAC provides an important opportunity to evaluate how technologies like Snowbird's SAMM Tech platform can perform in real operational environments to support part replacement, equipment maintenance and sustainment closer to the point of need in maritime environments," said Ethan Brown, Program Manager at FLEETWERX.
Hosted by the Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and led by the Commander of the U.S. 3rd Fleet, RIMPAC 2026 will feature Chile as deputy commander and Japan as vice commander. The exercise continues to demonstrate the flexibility and strength of multinational maritime partnerships.
