Schulze Family Foundation grant to provide summer scholarships to Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Floridant -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County received a $40,000 grant from the Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation (http://www.schulzefamilyfoundation.org/) to provide additional access and enhance summer programs for members.

The grant will provide scholarships to children and teens attending the Summer Enrichment Program in addition to supporting the Boys & Girls Club's "Summer Smarts" curriculum, which is designed to reduce summer learning loss through project-based reading and STEM activities.

It's estimated that three in four youth lack access to high-quality summer programs, leaving them at risk for significant summer learning loss. Additionally, one in five young people have no place to go after school, leaving them potentially unguided, unproductive and unsafe. Experts pinpoint high-quality after-school and summer programs as critical to the future of youth.
