FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Floridant -- Ft. Lauderdale, FL – The Department of Defense recently announced that Ryzhka International LLC is 1 of 15 recipients of the 2023 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award.
The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Freedom Award is the highest recognition given by the U.S. Department of Defense to employers for their outstanding support for the National Guard and Reserve.
The Freedom Award was established in 1996 and is presented annually to a select group of employers who have gone above and beyond their legal obligations in supporting their employees who serve in the military reserve system. The award is a way to honor employers who demonstrate exceptional support by providing flexibility, understanding and accommodations to employees who are called to military duty.
Jeremy Miller, Vice President at Ryzhka International LLC, and a 1st Sgt currently with HHC 926th EN BN in the Army Reserves was activated with HHC 682d EN BN, MN National Guard to Washington D.C. in support of the January 6th security mission in 2021. "My unit came home for three weeks and then I was deployed with 1-194 AR REG, MN National Guard to Kuwait for 11 months," Miller stated.

"Meeting my National Guard commitments was challenging because I was commuting from my home here in Florida to Minnesota for training," stated Miller. "Michael, the President and owner of Ryzhka International LLC, was very supportive. He took his personal time to make sure my family was taken care of and would stop by my condo to make sure that it was maintained".
"I know it is important to support my employees whether they are here at work or deployed with a federal mission with the military," said Michael Dunbar, Dunbar is a Navy veteran who served on active duty from 1981 to 1987.
"We still had work to do, to fill the void of Jeremy's military duty, but everyone in the company all pulled together to support the work Jeremy was called to do in defending our country. Workloads were reassigned, and many took on new roles while Jeremy served. We figured it out," Dunbar continued. "And we are honored to have been selected for this prestigious award."
