Nationally, about one in eight women (13%) will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. This year, it's estimated that doctors will diagnose about 300,000 new cases of invasive breast cancer in the U.S., representing nearly 30% of all cancers among women.
"Every woman is personally impacted at some point by breast cancer," Brown said. "If you don't have breast cancer, one of your loved ones, friends or colleagues likely is a survivor, is currently undergoing treatment or will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the future. Breast cancer is a disease that unites all of us, and Purple Tea aims to bring together women of all backgrounds to learn about breast cancer in a supportive, nurturing environment."
