19-Year Old Shoots A 62, Including 9 Birdies And An Eagle On The Final Hole
DELRAY BEACH, Fla. - Floridant -- It may not be the Master's, but for 19-year-old Preston Worch, breaking the Mizner Country Club course record is a thrilling milestone. Scoring an impressive 62, Preston's round included 9 birdies and an eagle on the final hole, underscoring the significance of his achievement. Mizner is renowned for being one of the most challenging courses in South Florida.
A student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Preston is a dedicated golfer. He plays at college and takes full advantage of the Mizner course four to five times a week when home, having lived in Mizner with his family for the past three years.
"I was ecstatic and thrilled right when it happened and really didn't know how to react," said Preston. "Breaking the course record wasn't even a thought until the eighth hole when I was a few strokes under. Now, every time I play Mizner, my goal is to beat my record. It will be hard, but I am looking forward to it!"

Preston reflected on his performance and said, "I did not change how I played the course. I treated it like any other normal day and was able to make a bunch of putts that led to a number of birdies. It was just my day when everything went right."
Dennis Rye, Mizner's Director of Golf, praised the new record. "We all congratulate Preston on an outstanding achievement. Mizner is not an easy course, and to shoot a 62 is an incredible feat. It is a testament to his skills and the members who love the game and are out there day after day bettering themselves."
Preston echoed this sentiment, "I love the sport of golf and work at it every single day to be the best version of myself. Every time I now play Mizner, it becomes my ambition to beat the new course record."
Mackenzie Lalov, Clubhouse Manager, added, "It was wonderful to see the overwhelming response to Preston's accomplishment. We congratulate him and express gratitude for the sportsmanship exhibited by our golf members."
Mizner Country Club is one of Delray's premier country club communities, consisting of over 470 classic Mediterranean architecture luxury homes.
