WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Floridant -- WHAT:
Palm Beach residents will gather to hold a press conference demanding lawmakers reject House Bill 1205 and Senate Bill 7016—dangerous legislation designed to gut Florida's citizen-led amendment process. Palm Beach will be a critical battleground in this fight, as State Representatives Meg Weinberger and Mike Caruso, members of the State Affairs Committee, will play a key role in deciding whether HB 1205 advances. The press conference will take place at Representative Weinberger's district office, amplifying the call for her to oppose this anti-democratic legislation.
WHO:
Students, community leaders, policy experts, impacted community members, and everyday Floridians who believe in protecting direct democracy will be speaking at these press conferences. Speakers will share personal stories about the critical role citizen petitions have played in shaping Florida's laws on minimum wage, restoring voting rights, and environmental protections.
