Talks are under way for a proposed debut aerial motorsport event in the Tampa Bay region over Thanksgiving weekend 2026.
TAMPA, Fla. - Floridant -- Talks are under way for a proposed debut aerial motorsport event in the Tampa Bay region over Thanksgiving weekend 2026.
This flagship event is being developed by a Hong Kong entity in collaboration with the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and Visit St. Pete/Clearwater, with local partners supporting event planning, destination positioning, and commercial engagement.
Envisioned as a high-speed, precision-based aerial competition staged across a waterfront racecourse, the proposed event would combine elite aviation, spectator sport, and a large-scale event atmosphere set against Tampa Bay's most iconic locations.

A spokesperson from Axano Ventures, one of the partners involved in delivering the event, said: "Tampa Bay gives us everything you would want for an event like this. It has an energy to it that feels very different from anywhere else in Florida: the people, the local businesses, and there is a real sense that the city backs things it believes in. You have the waterfront, the skyline, the tourism infrastructure, and a city that already knows how to host major events. What makes this opportunity exciting is that it is not just about the race itself. It is about creating a full Thanksgiving weekend experience that brings visitors into the region, supports local businesses, and gives Tampa Bay something completely unique to call its own."
Positioned as a one-off "Tampa Air Race Cup," the format is designed to concentrate global attention, top-tier pilot participation, and visitor demand into a single holiday weekend, aligning with one of the busiest travel periods in the United States.

The Tampa Bay Sports Commission is working alongside the organisers to support the development of the event, including coordination and engagement with relevant partners.
Beyond the sporting spectacle, the proposed event is expected to drive broader regional impact across hospitality, tourism, and local business activity, while showcasing Tampa Bay and St. Pete/Clearwater to a global audience through broadcast, digital, and on-site experiences.
The event organisers, together with regional partners, are now engaging a limited number of founding partners to support the development of the event. Opportunities include title sponsorship, official partnerships, hospitality programmes, and on-site brand activations.
Planning for the event is currently progressing with local stakeholders and destination partners. While momentum is strong, the event remains subject to final commercial structuring, including the appointment of a title partner and supporting sponsors.
Further details, including course design, event programming, and commercial partnerships, will be announced in due course.
