The leading school safety and dismissal platform adds a new setting, enabling school staff to quickly verify identities through parent uploaded photos.
TAMPA, Fla. - Floridant -- Pikmykid, the leading school safety and dismissal platform, announced a new feature that increases safety for students during dismissal and emergencies.
"While we've seen schools advance student learning through innovation, many still lack resources necessary to make safety protocols quick and easy; this includes a reliable process for verifying that the correct individual is picking up each kid from school," shared Pat Bhava, CEO of Pikmykid. "In the absence of such a system, school staff are often left to rely on their memory or trust the word of individuals."
With the growing trend of carpooling due to school bus driver shortages, ensuring that each student goes home with the right person has become a more significant challenge.

Pikmykid's latest update addresses this issue by allowing schools to verify the identity of anyone picking up a student from school using photo identification stored within the safety platform. Staff can also easily mitigate custody battles and avoid strangers from picking up students on campus.
In the app, parents can upload their photo and the photos of anyone approved to pick up their kid. School staff see the guardian's photo on the platform during dismissal and can verify they have permission to pick up.
This process works similarly for emergency contacts so that during an emergency, schools can verify identification quickly and accurately to reunite students with guardians.
Bhava explained, "Every school using this feature will now have the ability to easily verify the permission of every person picking up each student - even in a crisis."
Schools can feel confident they're sending students home in the safest way and parents feel relieved knowing no one can pick up their student without their permission.
