COSTA MESA, Calif., March 18, 2025 ~ In an effort to promote early cancer detection and prevention, non-profit organization F Cancer has launched a new Public Service Announcement (PSA) campaign titled "Pick up Your Poop." The campaign, which coincides with Colon Cancer Awareness month, aims to encourage individuals aged 45 and above to undergo colorectal cancer screening.
Heather Kun, CEO of F Cancer, explains the inspiration behind the campaign, stating that while dog owners readily pick up their pet's waste without hesitation, many people are uncomfortable when it comes to their own health. She emphasizes the importance of early detection in F Cancer's mission and hopes that this campaign will help normalize the conversation around screening and testing.
Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in both men and women in the United States. However, the most concerning aspect is that early colon cancer often presents no symptoms at all. This makes regular screening even more crucial. Additionally, certain populations such as American Indians, Alaska Natives, Black Americans, and Hispanic Americans are more likely to be diagnosed at later stages of colorectal cancer. This further highlights the importance of promoting early screening.

Dr. Fola May, Associate Professor of Medicine at UCLA, stresses the significance of early detection in successful treatment outcomes for colorectal cancer. She also mentions that there are various convenient and effective ways for individuals to screen for colon cancer from the comfort of their own homes.
The "Pick up Your Poop" campaign takes a humorous approach to a serious topic in hopes of encouraging individuals to understand their risk factors and consult a doctor about screening options. This includes non-invasive at-home stool tests like Cologuard® test.
To complement the PSA, F Cancer has also launched a website called pickupyourpoop.com. The website provides additional information about colorectal cancer screening and resources offered by F Cancer. Visitors can even personalize their experience by uploading a photo of their beloved dog. An AI generator will then create a shareable video featuring their furry friend, urging the recipient to get tested and encouraging others in their network to do the same.

The PSA will be featured on various media platforms, including broadcast television, digital channels, and social media. The campaign is sponsored by Exact Sciences, the makers of Cologuard test, and was created in collaboration with community, a global creative agency. Public relations for the campaign is being led by Dini von Mueffling Communications.
Through this campaign, F Cancer hopes to break down barriers and encourage more people to take control of their health by undergoing regular colorectal cancer screening. By using humor and relatable content, they aim to make this uncomfortable conversation more approachable and ultimately save lives through early detection.
