Pet Professional Guild Announces the Winners of Its Celebrating Life Together Outreach Competition

Entrants helped provide the antidote to harmful, aversive pet training and care and won prizes

THE VILLAGES, Fla. - Floridant -- he Pet Professional Guild (PPG) has announced the winners of its community outreach competition that was part of its first annual advocacy event, Celebrating Life Together, held in August and September 2024. The goal of the event was to raise awareness for humane, ethical and effective pet training and care, and also included a three-day virtual education event featuring 67 presentations by experts from around the world.

The outreach competition invited pet professionals and pet owners to participate in the mass production of fun, informative education about positive reinforcement training and pet care, and offered the opportunity to win prize packages worth hundreds of dollars. Pet professionals submitted entries in Outdoor Fun With a Pet, Pet Enrichment, Educational Event, Create an Infographic and Write a Blog Post categories, and pet owners submitted entries in Quality Time With Your Pet, Your Enriched Pet and Train a Fun Behavior categories. The entries were put to a public vote for the month of September, and the first-place winners were pet professionals Joanne Burton, Alexandra Tytheridge-Allan, Natasha Attwood, Roman Gottfried, Jen Nesbitt-Hawes and Elizabeth Eckert, and pet owners Anna-Marie Brocchi and Amanda Ferry.

From the public vote, a panel of judges chose overall winners for Best in Show and Best on the Block from the first-place pet professional and pet owner entries, respectively. Elizabeth Eckert was awarded Best in Show for her blog post, Best Life With Your Big Feeling Dog: How to Love the Dog You Have, and won a free ticket to PPG and PPGBI Summits for 10 years (nonconsecutive). The first year also includes hotel and airfare if traveling within the country where the summit is held. If traveling from outside the country where the summit is held, she gets a $500 credit toward her airline ticket. Amanda Ferry was awarded Best on the Block for her video, Penny Jumps Through a Hoop, and won a prize package of online education, gift certificates, books, and pet toys and supplies worth $500.
