THE VILLAGES, Fla. - Floridant -- The Pet Professional Guild (PPG) has announced a new corporate partnership with the Phenix Advocacy Center for R+ Canine Professionals (PAC).
Annie Phenix founded PAC in February 2023 in response to feedback from dog trainers around the world about feeling exhausted, stressed, worried and deeply sad about the toxicity and misogyny that is prevalent in the industry, among a myriad of other reasons. The PAC's mission is to provide peer-to-peer support for all R+ canine professionals through advocacy, education, empathetic listening, professional mental and physical health referrals, and business support.
"Dog training with a focus on positive reinforcement can be incredibly rewarding but also emotionally challenging," said PPG Founder Niki Tudge. "Positive-reinforcement training emphasizes empathy and understanding. This requires trainers to be emotionally invested, making self-care essential to prevent compassion fatigue. Witnessing abusive practices can take a toll on the mental and emotional well-being of professionals, particularly given that the dog training industry is unregulated. Trainers need a safe and supportive environment to prosper. PAC fills this much-needed gap, and we are delighted that our membership now has additional resources to support them individually and in their businesses."

Added Annie Phenix, "The Phenix Advocacy Center for R+ Canine Professionals (PAC) is 100% aligned with the force-free message that the Pet Professional Guild has heralded since its inception. We are honored to become a corporate partner with the PPG—many of our PAC members are long-time PPG members, including myself. We have long felt that we are a sister organization to the PPG, and it is exciting to become an official partner as together we make lives better for dogs and for canine professionals."
