Partners in Care raises $55,500 in record breaking run

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Floridant -- Partners in Care hosted a record-breaking 500-plus participants while raising $55,500 at its 13^th annual Head & Neck 10K and 5K Run/2-Mile Walk. The charity event took place at Rotary Park in Cape Coral on April 26.

All funds raised benefit the nonprofit Partners in Care Foundation and will be used to provide financial assistance to head and neck cancer patients and to provide cancer screenings and treatment in southwest Florida.

The top three female finishers overall in the 5Kwere:

• First Place: Sara Crist
• Second Place: Janice Smeigh
• Third Place: Luisa Martin

The top three male finishers overall in the 5K were:

• First Place: Navard Barnes
• Second Place:Andreas Boehm
• Third Place: Scott Leland

The top three female finishers overall in the 10K were:

• First Place: Nicole Keller
• Second Place: Tori Waggoner
• Third Place: Melissa Ernharth

The top three male finishers overall in the 10K were:

• First Place: Hernan Hernandez
• Second Place: Tyler Meininger
• Third Place: Gerard Kachor

The race series was started 13 years ago to bring awareness to head and neck cancers and raise money for those unable to afford costly recovery therapies that often aren't covered by insurance, or which require a very high copay.

It subsequently grew to include events across the country, with nearly 1,600 runners, walkers and volunteers helping generate more than $100,000 in 2024.
