MIAMI - Floridant -- Today the Miami-Dade Bar (MDB) released the results of its 2024 Judicial Poll, where it asked attorneys across the county to provide feedback regarding the judiciary.

The poll, open to all practicing lawyers regardless of their membership status with the voluntary bar association, allowed participants to rank sitting judges on a three-tier scale ranging from: Exceptionally Qualified, Qualified, to Unqualified. Lawyers also had the option to select that they had "No Opinion" of a particular judge.

The poll inquired about all 26 Circuit Court judges and 23 County Court judges in Miami-Dade County; the full results of the poll can be found at MiamiDadeBar.org on the home page or at

The results were overwhelmingly positive in that 94% of judges earned high marks and were viewed as Qualified or Exceptionally Qualified. Only 6% of judges were deemed Unqualified by at least 40% or more of the attorneys who participated in the poll.

The Miami-Dade Bar, which is the oldest voluntary bar association in Florida, has been conducting this poll since 1941. As far back as 1956, the membership recognized the importance of the survey. In 1956, Reginald Williams, the President of the Dade County Bar Association at the time, emphasized the importance of this poll stating, "It is the duty of the organized Bar to the public to weigh judicial fitness of candidates for judicial office."

Agreeing with that sentiment, MDB President Charise A. Morgan added, "Our goal is to ensure that every attorney has access to the poll and has an opportunity to have their voice heard."

Coinciding with the judicial election cycle for this year, ballots were emailed to 17,627 practicing attorneys, with 486 attorneys casting their ballots – a 2.8% participation rate.

"Every attorney's feedback is valuable, and we look forward to increasing the visibility of this essential poll so that more attorneys participate next year." said Bret Berlin, the executive director of the MDB.

"As an entity, the MDB does not endorse candidates but is committed to gathering data, educating voters, and providing the judiciary and the Miami-Dade County community with ample opportunity to meet outside the courtroom, "said Adam Finkel, MDB's Secretary and chair of its personal injury committee. "We certainly welcome continued feedback and any suggestions regarding how to ensure that all members of our community have access to the courts and can vote more confidently during elections."
