Harris joins partnership after nearly 12 years with the commercial real estate brokerage firm
SARASOTA, Fla. - Floridant -- Ian Black Real Estate has promoted Melissa Harris, SIOR, from sales associate to partner with the commercial real estate firm.
Harris joined Ian Black Real Estate as a commercial property manager in 2011 and quickly transitioned into leasing and sales. As a sales associate, she's worked with some of the largest landlords in the area, and represents local and national tenants and buyers.
"After working here for almost 12 years, it is an honor to have my hard work recognized and be presented with this amazing opportunity," Harris said. "Ian Black Real Estate is part of my extended family, and I am really excited to grow and join the amazing team of partners that lead the firm."
In December, the Realtor® Association of Sarasota and Manatee (RASM) named Harris the 2022 Commercial Real Estate Alliance (CREA) Commercial Realtor® of the Year. The award is presented each year to a member of the CREA who epitomizes the Realtor® image and has a proven track record of dedication.

She has earned the prestigious SIOR (Society of Industrial and Office Realtors®) designation and is actively pursuing her CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation.
"It's been wonderful to see Melissa grow and advance in the years she's been here," said Ian Black, partner at Ian Black Real Estate. "You can't teach someone how to be a partner – Melissa just gets it, it's in her DNA. We're proud to offer her a spot in the partnership and bring the younger generation up in the ranks."
