FORT MYERS, Fla. - Floridant -- Dozens of children at P.A. Geraci Child Development Center, a Child Care of Southwest Florida learning center, were surprised with an immersive reading experience of the new multicultural children's book, "La Casita Hispaniola."
Local authors Yajaida Aristhyl and her husband, Michelson, visited the center on July 25 to read their children's book, "La Casita Hispaniola," a heartfelt portrayal of their blended family from the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The book was brought to life with cultural music and maracas, making for an exciting, immersive experience for the children.
"Our goal is to provide an environment that fosters a love of learning and promotes understanding of diverse cultures," said CEO Chris Hansen of Child Care of Southwest Florida. "Having Yajaida and Michelson here to share their personal story was a wonderful way to engage our children in a meaningful and entertaining learning experience."
In addition to the reading, around 40 children were gifted their own signed copy of the book as a keepsake that will further encourage their love of reading.
