~ The City of Jacksonville's Keep Jacksonville Beautiful is inviting residents to join the 2023 International Coastal Cleanup event. This event, which is part of the Ocean Conservancy's Annual International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), will give volunteers the chance to help beautify the city's shorelines.

The event will take place on Saturday, September 16th, 2023 and will involve volunteers from around the world spending a few hours removing trash and debris from beaches, lakes, and rivers. In 2022, 523 volunteers collected 9,820 pounds of debris in Jacksonville alone. The value of their volunteer time amounted to $38,605.55.

Keep Jacksonville Beautiful is looking for local volunteers to help clean and protect the environment by eliminating debris that can injure wildlife and contaminate beaches and waterways. Advance registration is not required; site captains will register volunteers and provide bags and gloves at the listed sites. Participants must be over 18 or accompanied by an adult; service hour certificates will also be available for students who need to satisfy community service requirements.

This event provides an opportunity for residents to make a difference in their community while being part of an international effort to protect our oceans, lakes, and rivers.
