Jacksonville: Mayor Curry's Public Safety Investments Yield Life-Saving Result

Today, a missing 6 ~ Today, a 6-week-old infant was found safe and returned to their family thanks to the collaboration between the Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department (JFRD) and Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO).

Mayor Lenny Curry expressed his appreciation for the first responders, saying "This is a perfect example of inter-agency collaboration and the use of innovative tools to immediately find and rescue a missing infant."

The County Watch Office, funded by Mayor Curry in 2023, sent out an emergency notification which was noticed by JFRD firefighter Hunter Parry as he was leaving his shift at Fire Station 71. Parry noticed a man with an infant who fit the description from the alert in the Jacksonville Beach area. He then notified JSO and Jacksonville Beach Police who intercepted the man and rescued the infant.

Sheriff T.K. Waters praised both departments for their knowledge and collaboration, saying "Thanks to this collaboration between our agencies, we were able to quickly locate and recover the missing infant." The infant was returned safely to their family within 8 hours.

Fire Chief Keith Powers also expressed his pride in County Watch Office personnel and Firefighter Hunter Parry for following his instincts, adding "Thanks to Mayor Curry's investment and our collaborative relationship with JSO, this family's story has a happy ending."
