~ Jacksonville, FL - The city of Jacksonville has unveiled a new resource for its residents during Small Business Week - the Entrepreneurship Workforce Development Center. This center aims to provide practical education and career support for entrepreneurs and job seekers in the community.

Managed by Jacksonville's Small & Emerging Business Division (JSEB), the center will serve as a hub for workforce development by bringing together local institutions, nonprofits, corporations, small businesses, and community partners. It will offer a variety of resources at no cost to help entrepreneurs start, grow, and expand their businesses, as well as assist job seekers in building skills to advance their careers.

The center will host workshops on business development, financial literacy, and technology skills, as well as mentorship and consulting sessions. Job placement assistance and networking events will also be available, along with industry certification programs and specialized training for upskilling and reskilling local talent.

"This center is more than just a building," stated Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan. "It is a testament to our shared commitment to fostering innovation, supporting small businesses, and creating pathways to economic opportunity for all Jacksonville residents."

Regular hours for the center will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Additional evening events from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm may be offered as needed, along with occasional Saturday morning workshops.

In addition to the main location at the Entrepreneurship Workforce Development Center, three additional centers will open in the coming days at the Main Library on N. Laura Street, Phoenix Arts + Innovation District on N. Liberty St., and Cecil Commerce Center on Lake Newman St.

"These centers will be catalysts for uplifting our community, advancing workforce readiness, and expanding entrepreneurial opportunities across Jacksonville," said Gregory Grant, JSEB Administrator for the City of Jacksonville.

These centers are part of Mayor Deegan's commitment to making Jacksonville the Small Business Capital of the Southeast by investing in local entrepreneurs and workforce development. Over the last 22 months, the city has also taken other steps to support small businesses, such as increasing the number of JSEBs by 30% and awarding $22 million more in city contracts to them. JSEBs have also been involved in the construction of the Stadium of the Future, which is expected to create thousands of jobs and bring billions in economic impact. Additionally, $2 million has been allocated for micro grants and low-interest loans for small businesses.
