Country Club community holds a three-day Ukraine Donation Drive to help Ukrainian citizens during their time of need
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - Floridant -- In a show of support for the people of Ukraine, Hunters Run Country Club has collected over $54,000 to donate to World Central Kitchen's "Chefs for Ukraine" to provide hot and fresh meals to Ukrainian refugees fleeing the Russian invasion.
On Sunday, March 27th Hunters Run kicked off its three-day Ukraine Donation Drive intending to raise $10,000 at 8:00 a.m. at their golf starter's booth where donations were accepted. Donation stations were also set up at the Club's poolside restaurant and main Clubhouse entrance. On Tuesday, March 29 from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. before the Club's already scheduled "Here Comes The Sun" Beatles tribute concert, core member-volunteers Abby Ferrara, Leslie Davret, Joan Kelly, Jodi Kaplan, Roxie Lowentheil, and Sue Layton, spent the entire day circulating the Club grounds accepting donations. With a donation of $20 or more, Hunters Run members received a Ukrainian flag to proudly display their support and hope for the people of Ukraine. Hunters Run also created a signature cocktail called the "Ukraine-Rita" which was offered all day on March 29 and pre-show at their Beatles tribute concert. Hunters Run donated $2 from every drink purchase to World Central Kitchen.

The World Central Kitchen "Chefs for Ukraine" is a not-for-profit organization that is responsible for providing hot and fresh meals for those in need 24/7. This humanitarian group was recently featured on The Today Show. World Central Kitchen was founded by José Andrés, a world-renowned chef, restaurateur and philanthropist, who has set up mobile kitchens to provide hot meals for Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion.
Hunters Run's Ukraine Donation Drive, spearheaded by Abby Ferrara and Sue Layton, surpassed its original $10,000 goal on day one. "Watching the devastation, we had to do something to help the Ukrainian citizens during their time of need. Our members were eager to contribute, and we felt that World Central Kitchen was the best avenue to help thousands and provide extra comfort during these incredibly difficult times. It was very rewarding to see how much support our Hunters Run members exhibited in less than 72 hours," shared Ms. Layton.
