Healthy Humans Hendry-Glades unveils online resource for trafficking prevention and support

LABELLE, Fla. - Floridant -- Healthy Humans Hendry-Glades has launched a new webpage dedicated to preventing human trafficking, emphasizing education, community resources and survivor support.

The webpage, HealthierHendryGlades.org/Human-Trafficking/, on the Healthy Humans Hendry-Glades website, details different types of trafficking including sex trafficking, labor trafficking and domestic servitude. It has information explaining what sextortion is as well as recognizing the signs of human trafficking.

Human trafficking prevention was identified as one of four priorities in the most recent Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP) for Hendry and Glades Counties. The intent of the plan is to identify priority goals and strategies while fostering community partnerships in order to improve the overall health of the community.

Healthy Humans Hendry-Glades offers resources, tools and tips to help residents care for their physical, financial, mental, emotional, spiritual and social health. The organization is supported by the Healthier Hendry Glades Task force's collaboration of partners.

"Florida ranks among the highest states for human trafficking," said Healthier Hendry/Glades Task Force member and Chief Executive Officer with Abuse Counseling and Treatment Jennifer Benton. "Our new webpage provides vital education, local resources and survivor support tools. It's a step toward empowering our communities to recognize, prevent and ultimately reduce trafficking in our region."
