Governor Ron DeSantis Deploys More Florida Personnel to Secure the Southern Border

PENSACOLA, Fla. ~ PENSACOLA, Fla. - In response to the ongoing border crisis, Governor Ron DeSantis has taken action by deploying additional National Guardsmen and Florida Highway Patrol Troopers to Texas. This move comes as Texas officials continue their efforts to secure the southern border.

Fifty National Guardsmen and 76 Florida Highway Patrol Troopers departed from Pensacola today as part of this wave of reinforcements. Governor DeSantis expressed his gratitude towards these officers, stating that the Biden Border Crisis has made every state a border state and it is the responsibility of each state to defend its territorial sovereignty.

This is not the first time Florida has sent assistance to Texas. Since 2021, over 2,400 law enforcement officers have been deployed from Florida to support efforts at the southern border. Along with these officers, more than 600 assets including boats, command buses, and ATVs have also been sent.
