TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis revealed that Florida has been awarded $2.3 million through the Defense Infrastructure Grant Program. This funding will be used to support infrastructure projects and stimulate economic development in military communities across the state.
Governor DeSantis, known for his commitment to making Florida the most military- and veteran-friendly state in the nation, expressed his dedication to ensuring the strength of these communities. "Through these awards, we are spurring economic growth that will support our servicemembers and their families," he stated.
J. Alex Kelly, Florida's Secretary of Commerce, also praised Governor DeSantis' leadership and emphasized the state's continued support for military communities and families. "Today's awards build on the more than $7.9 million awarded already this year, strengthening Florida's military communities and stimulating economic growth for the future," he said.

The grants awarded through the Defense Infrastructure Grant Program include $82,500 for the Space Coast Economic Development Commission, $135,000 for the City of Cocoa to improve their water distribution system and increase resiliency for Patrick Space Force Base and Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, and $2,080,100 for the City of Jacksonville to continue their Compatible Land Use/Encroachment Protection Program.
Since 2019, over $23.4 million in grants have been awarded to military communities in Florida to support infrastructure and boost local economies. These grants cover a range of needs including transportation and access, housing, utilities, communications, environment, and security.
