TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of James Scholl, Jamal Sowell, and Don Quinn and the reappointment of Steven "Reeves" Valentine to the Florida Defense Support Task Force.

James Scholl is a Monroe County Commissioner and veteran of the United States Navy. He has been awarded the Legion of Merit, a Defense Meritorious Service Medal, three Meritorious Services Medals, and two Navy Commendation Medals, one with combat distinguishing device for valor. Scholl was previously the Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Key West and is currently a member of the Key West Military Affairs Committee. He holds a bachelor's degree in zoology from Miami University and a master's degree in national security and strategic studies from the Navy War College.

Jamal Sowell is President of Business Solutions for Indelible Solutions and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps who currently serves in the United States Navy Reserve. He was formerly Florida Secretary of Commerce and Chief Executive Officer of Enterprise Florida. Sowell is also a resident member of the Florida Council of 100 and serves on the University of Florida Alumni Association Board of Directors. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in religion from the University of Florida, master's degree in education from the University of Massachusetts, and juris doctor from Indiana University.

Don Quinn is a Consultant on manpower, talent management, training, and education issues based in Pensacola. He is an experienced veteran who retired with rank Rear Admiral from United States Navy after being awarded Distinguished Services Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, and Bronze Star medals. Quinn holds bachelor's degree in oceanography from United States Naval Academy as well as master's degrees in general management from Salve Regina University and military strategic studies from United States Naval War College.

Steven "Reeves" Valentine is Vice President for Land & Maritime Solutions at Lockheed Martin Corporation as well as veteran of United States Army who was recognized by Orlando Business Journal as Veteran Of Influence 2021. Valentine previously served as member on Enterprise Florida Executive Committee with his educational background including bachelor's degree in general management from United States Military Academy at West Point & master's degree in business administration from Northwestern University.

Governor DeSantis expressed his confidence that these individuals will serve their roles with distinction on this important task force that works to support defense-related activities throughout Florida.
