ORLANDO, Fla. ~ ORLANDO, Fla. - During the Florida Department of Children and Families' 2024 Children and Families Summit, Governor Ron DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis discussed two groundbreaking initiatives that aim to support families and strengthen communities. The initiatives, Father First and Hope Florida, were highlighted during a fireside chat at the summit.

Father First is a statewide and community-driven initiative that empowers fathers to embrace their unique roles in their children's lives. As part of this initiative, Florida has launched a network of 30 community organizations that offer educational programs, mentorship opportunities, and one-on-one support to promote responsible and involved fatherhood in the state.

The Father First website serves as a resource for fathers and future fathers to find information, encouragement, and connections to help them become better parents every day.

Hope Florida is another transformative initiative that utilizes Hope Navigators to guide Floridians on an individualized path towards prosperity and economic independence. This initiative focuses on collaboration between the private sector, faith-based communities, nonprofits, and government entities.

Floridians can call 833-GET-HOPE to speak with a Hope Navigator who will assist them in identifying their needs, setting long-term goals, mapping out a path forward, and ensuring all sectors of the community are involved in finding lasting solutions. In just two years since its launch, Hope Florida has helped nearly 30,000 Floridians reduce their reliance on government assistance. This reduction is estimated to save the state approximately $800 million over the next decade.

Governor DeSantis and First Lady Casey DeSantis also highlighted the partnership between Hope Florida and the Guardian ad Litem program. This partnership has resulted in hundreds of mentorship pairings since its launch in September 2023. However, more mentors are needed across the state for youth aging out of the foster care system. Those interested in becoming mentors can visit HopeFlorida.com for more information.

Floridians in need of support can reach out to Hope Florida by calling the Hope Line at 833-GET-HOPE. Organizations or individuals interested in becoming mentors or partnering with Hope Florida can visit www.HopeFlorida.com for more information.
