~ On Wednesday, January 31, 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis issued a press release announcing that flags will be flown at half-staff in honor of Sergeant David Dixon. The decision was made to pay tribute to the dedicated public servant who passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024 after a long battle with cancer.

Sergeant Dixon's commitment to protecting the State of Florida was evident throughout his career. He served his community in various roles and for the past 15 years, he worked tirelessly at the Zephyrhills Police Department to ensure the safety of its citizens. His dedication and service will not be forgotten.

In recognition of Sergeant Dixon's contributions and to honor his memory, Governor DeSantis has directed that the flag of the State of Florida be flown at half-staff at both the Zephyrhills Police Department and Zephyrhills City Hall from sunrise to sunset on Thursday, February 1, 2024. This gesture serves as a reminder of Sergeant Dixon's selfless service and his impact on the community he served.

Brian Fienemann, Director of Real Estate Management and Development; Derek Brewer, Police Chief; Ron Oakley, Chair of Pasco County Commissioners; and Melonie Monson, Mayor of Zephyrhills all expressed their condolences for Sergeant Dixon's passing and praised his dedication to public service.
