~ On Wednesday, December 6, 2023, flags at the Glades County Courthouse in Moore Haven, Florida, the City Hall of Labelle, Florida, and at the State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset in honor of County Commissioner Donna Storter Long.

Long passed away on Friday, December 1st at the age of 75 following a battle with lung cancer. She had served as a Glades County commissioner since 2004 and was known for her determination and passion for what she believed in. Governor Ron DeSantis issued a statement honoring her memory and service to the state.

"Commissioner Long will be remembered as a dedicated public servant for her community and the people of the State of Florida," said DeSantis.

The flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on Wednesday as a tribute to Commissioner Long's legacy.
