~ On Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025, Governor Ron DeSantis issued a statement directing the flags of the United States and the State of Florida to be flown at half-staff in honor of Sergeant Terri Sweeting-Mashkow. The 47-year-old sergeant from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office was tragically killed in the line of duty on Friday, November 21st.
Sergeant Sweeting-Mashkow dedicated 25 years of her life to serving and protecting her community. She was known for her bravery, integrity, and compassion while carrying out her duties. Her commitment to keeping her community safe will not be forgotten.
