Florida: Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez Leads Mission to United Kingdom for Farnborough International Airshow

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Lieutenant Governor Jeanette Nuñez has recently returned from a successful aerospace and aviation mission to the United Kingdom for the Farnborough International Airshow. The event, which took place from July 22-26, was organized in conjunction with SelectFlorida, Inc. During her time at the airshow, Lieutenant Governor Nuñez met with corporate executives to promote opportunities for collaboration between Florida and the aerospace and aviation industry.

Accompanying Lieutenant Governor Nuñez on this mission were Florida Commerce Secretary J. Alex Kelly, Florida Department of Transportation Secretary Jared Perdue, and Space Florida President and CEO Rob Long. Their presence at Farnborough this year supported growth in Florida jobs and cemented the state's brand as a premier location for aerospace and aviation.

The highlight of the mission was the announcement that Aura Aero will be expanding its presence in Florida with a new 500,000 square-foot manufacturing plant. This expansion is estimated to create 1,030 jobs with an average wage of $73,695 and has a projected capital investment of $172.5 million.

In a statement, Lieutenant Governor Nuñez emphasized the importance of Florida's aerospace and aviation industry to the state's economy. "With more than 640 aerospace establishments, 2,000 aviation establishments, 19 commercial service airports, 3 spaceport facilities, 130 public-use airports and 20 major military installations," she said. "Florida continues to lead the nation."

Over 150 delegates, business owners and economic development partners joined Lieutenant Governor Nuñez at Farnborough International Airshow to represent Florida. Their common goal was to support and promote Florida's aerospace and aviation industry on an international stage.

The delegation included representatives from 19 Florida companies such as Aero-Hose Corporation, Aerospace Technologies Group, Aerostar Training Services, Aerotape, AeroTools Connection among others. These companies were given an elevated platform to showcase their products and services to an international audience.

The mission also included discussions with local economic development partners to explore strategic opportunities for growth and expansion within the state. Some of the partners who joined Lieutenant Governor Nuñez were SpaceFlorida, Florida's Great Northwest, Powering Florida (FPL), Orlando Economic Partnership, Bay Economic Development Alliance, Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation, City of Pensacola, Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast, PowerSouth Energy Cooperative, Santa Rosa Economic Development, Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation and JAXUSA.

In addition to promoting Florida's aerospace and aviation industry, Lieutenant Governor Nuñez also met with officials from the United Kingdom to continue efforts in partnering with them in this sector. This follows a historic Memorandum of Understanding signed by Governor DeSantis in 2023.

The success of this mission further reinforces Florida's economic development vision and directly benefits job creators and job seekers. With its strong presence at Farnborough International Airshow and partnerships with key players in the industry, Florida is well-positioned to continue leading the nation in aerospace and aviation.
