Tallahassee, Fla. – Today, Governor Ron DeSantis highlighted Florida's innovative partnership with the faith-based community to vaccinate Floridians in underserved communities.

In January, Governor DeSantis directed the Florida Division of Emergency Management to work with the faith-based community to identify places of worship and other locations in underserved communities where the vaccine may be administered.

Since then, the state has worked with the faith-based community to administer the vaccine at 70 events in underserved communities, administering nearly 60,000 doses of the vaccine.

Beginning today through Monday, March 8, the state is holding nine additional one-day vaccine events with the faith-based community:

Friday, March 5
  • St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church
    3738 Winton Dr.
    Jacksonville, FL 32208

Saturday, March 6
Sunday, March 7
  • Lynn Haven Senior Center
    905 Pennsylvania Ave.
    Lynn Haven, FL 32444
  • Immanuel Baptist Church
    2351 Mahan Drive
    Tallahassee, FL 32308
  • Shiloh Baptist Church Youth Life Center
    580 W Jackson St
    Orlando, FL 32805

Monday, March 8
  • North Jacksonville Baptist Church
    8531 N Main St.
    Jacksonville, FL 32218

Florida continues to lead the nation with over 2.4 million seniors vaccinated, which is 53% of the state's roughly 4.5 million seniors. Partnering with the faith-based community to provide the vaccine in underserved areas was one of Governor DeSantis' original four actions to increase vaccine access. Find that announcement here.
