Florida: Governor Ron DeSantis Appoints Four to the Valencia College District Board of Trustees

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ~ TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In a recent announcement, Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed three new members and reappointed one member to the Valencia College District Board of Trustees. The newly appointed members are Blair Bradley, Shawn Hindle, and Belinda Kirkegard, while John Davis has been reappointed.

Bradley brings a wealth of experience to the board with her background as a former Analyst for North American Reserve Corporation. She is also actively involved in her community, serving as a STEM tutor and volunteer for the local Parent Teacher Association. Additionally, she is an alumni interviewer for the Rice Alumni Volunteer Association. Bradley holds a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering and managerial studies from Rice University.

Hindle, the President of Hanson, Walter & Associates, Inc., also joins the board with a strong community involvement record. He currently serves on the Osceola County Planning Commission and the CareerSource Central Florida Board of Directors. Hindle earned his bachelor's degree in engineering from North Carolina State University.

Kirkegard brings a diverse set of skills to the board as the President of the National Entrepreneur Center. She has previously served on both the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority and the Central Florida Corridor Task Force. Kirkegard has been recognized for her achievements by being listed as one of Orlando Magazine's "50 Most Powerful Ones to Watch" in 2023 and receiving Florida Trend's "People to Know Award" in 2021. She holds a bachelor's degree in political science and public administration from the University of Central Florida and a master's degree in public administration from Troy University.

Davis, who has been reappointed to the board, currently serves as Secretary of the Florida Lottery. He has previously held positions such as Vice President of the Orlando Regional Chamber of Commerce, President of the African American Chamber of Commerce, and External Affairs Director for the Florida Department of Children and Families. Davis is also currently appointed to the Florida Commission on Community Service. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Florida State University.

These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate, and the new members will join the board in their efforts to support and guide Valencia College in its mission to provide quality education to its students.
