NAPLES, Fla. ~ NAPLES, Fla. - Governor Ron DeSantis made a visit to The Freedom Institute of Collier County today, where he emphasized Florida's achievements in education and its position as the top state in the nation for school choice. During his visit, Governor DeSantis engaged in a Q&A session with Tom Grady, co-founder of the institute, to discuss the various opportunities available to students in Florida due to the administration's focus on competition, diversity, and freedom in education.

In his statement, Governor DeSantis stated that when he took office as Governor, he made school choice a top priority for his administration. He worked closely with the Legislature to expand scholarship programs and implement universal school choice. According to Governor DeSantis, Florida is known as the "education state" because of its emphasis on core academics, empowering parents to make decisions about their children's education, and recognizing that all parents should have the right to choose the best school for their children.

Tom Grady, co-founder of The Freedom Institute and chairman of the State Board of Education, expressed his pride in being part of Florida's excellent public school system. He also noted how competition and choice have improved these schools. The Freedom Institute of Collier County offers a unique high school experience that is tailored to each student's aptitude and interests. This personalized curriculum includes a rigorous traditional core curriculum as well as real-world skills such as financial literacy, character development, and civic pride.

Florida has been ranked number one nationally in several categories related to education including school choice scholarships, parental involvement in education, education freedom overall education quality and higher education. Since Governor DeSantis signed universal school choice into law last year, over 380,000 scholarships have been funded for students attending Florida's extensive network of more than 700 charter schools. Additionally, there are nearly 160,000 students enrolled in home education programs across Florida and over 80,000 students participating in dual enrollment at a Florida College System institution.

The Freedom Institute is showcasing Florida's innovative education model, which includes charter schools, home schooling, and dual enrollment options.
