~ Miami, FL- On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Governor Ron DeSantis issued a statement directing flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of City Commissioner Manolo Reyes. The 80-year-old commissioner passed away on Friday, April 11, leaving behind a legacy of dedicated public service.
Commissioner Reyes was known for his commitment to improving the lives of those in his community. He spent his career as a teacher at Westland Hialeah Senior High School and later as the Principal Budget Analyst for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. In 2017, he was elected as Miami City Commissioner for District Four.

His passing has left a void in the hearts of many, including his wife of fifty-six years, two children, and three grandchildren. Governor DeSantis expressed his condolences to the family and recognized Commissioner Reyes' contributions to the state.
In honor of his memory and service, flags will be flown at half-staff at all local and state buildings, installations, and grounds throughout Miami-Dade County from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, April 16. This gesture serves as a tribute to Commissioner Reyes' dedication and impact on the community he served.
