ORLANDO, Fla. ~ ORLANDO, Fla. - First Lady Casey DeSantis addressed the Florida Sheriffs Association (FSA) Summer Conference today to discuss the impact of Hope Florida as a referral resource for Florida Sheriffs and law enforcement. The program aims to provide assistance to individuals in need and help them find a path to prosperity.
According to DeSantis, law enforcement personnel often come across individuals who require help outside of the criminal justice system. These individuals may not know where to turn for support. With Hope Florida, law enforcement can now call one number and connect with Hope Navigators who are ready to provide assistance.
"We are proud to offer Hope Florida as a simple way for law enforcement to ensure those who need help can be connected quickly," said DeSantis. "Hope Navigators will work with these individuals to address their challenges and provide a plan for economic independence."
The program has already made a significant impact, with nearly 100,000 Floridians connected to assistance since its launch. Additionally, almost 30,000 Floridians have reduced or eliminated their reliance on government assistance.
Hope Florida works by utilizing Hope Navigators who collaborate with various sectors of the community such as the private sector, faith-based communities, nonprofits, and government entities. This approach aims to maximize support and uncover new opportunities for those going through difficult times.

"Many who choose to become law enforcement officers share a primary aspiration - to help people," said Florida Sheriffs Association President and Nassau County Sheriff Bill Leeper. "Florida's sheriffs are honored to collaborate with First Lady Casey DeSantis through Hope Florida."
The program has received support from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), which has distributed information about Hope Florida and its mission directly to Sheriff's Offices and Police Departments throughout the state.
"Hope Florida is an incredible asset that allows our officers to direct individuals in need towards available resources tailored to their specific needs," said FLHSMV Executive Director Dave Kerner. "This makes a significant impact on their lives."
One of the main goals of Hope Florida is to help Floridians achieve economic self-sufficiency. The program estimates that it will save the state nearly $800 million over the next 10 years.
Floridians in need of support can connect with Hope Florida by visiting their website or calling the Hope Line at 850-300-HOPE. The program's success is evident in the number of individuals who have been connected to assistance and reduced their reliance on government aid. With continued support and collaboration, Hope Florida hopes to make a lasting impact on the lives of Floridians in need.
