Crowder Bros. Ace Hardware to host blood drive on Jan. 4 in Lakewood Ranch

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - Floridant -- Crowder Bros. Ace Hardware will again host OneBlood's Big Red Bus for a community blood donation event on Jan. 4 at the company's Lakewood Ranch store.

OneBlood is a not-for-profit organization that provides blood to more than 300 hospital partners and their patients throughout Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. OneBlood operates more than 90 donor centers and deploys nearly 250 Big Red Bus bloodmobiles throughout the Southeast.

Eleven individuals made OneBlood's "Honor Roll" after participating in Crowder Bros. Ace Hardware's Nov. 1 blood drive. Each unit of blood is equivalent to helping three people, so the November drive produced blood for 33 patients.

The next OneBlood community blood donation event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4 at Crowder Bros. Ace Hardware, 2401 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. No registration is necessary. Generally, healthy people ages 16 and older who weight at least 110 pounds can donate blood.
