Only software capability chosen by INDOPACOM J85 for Cobra Gold 2026; SBIR-born innovation expands from space launch ops into Army and Marine Corps tactical missions
MELBOURNE, Fla. - Floridant -- Velocity Explorations announced today that its been selected to participate in Exercise Cobra Gold 2026 (CG26) (https://www.war.gov/Spotlights/Cobra-Gold/), the Indo-Pacific's largest and most complex multinational military exercise. Cobra Gold, co-hosted by the United States and the Royal Thai Armed Forces, brings together thousands of personnel from allied and partner nations to rehearse Combined Joint All-Domain Operations (CJADO) across land, sea, air, cyber, and space.
Velocity was formally selected by U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (https://www.pacom.mil/About-USINDOPACOM/)'s J85 directorate, which oversees multinational exercises and technology integration for Cobra Gold. As the only software capability chosen for the exercise, this represents a significant milestone in the operationalization of artificial intelligence for command and control. Cobra Gold also showcases a range of advanced kinetic and mobility systems, from counter-UAS weapons to tactical mobility platforms. While the exercise will showcase advanced hardware systems—from counter-UAS weapons to tactical mobility platforms—Velocity's inclusion underscores the growing importance of software-driven decision advantage and interoperability in modern warfare.

Originally emerging from SBIR-funded innovation in space launch operations, Velocity's technology is now extending into Army and Marine Corps mission environments. Its system being utilized for this exercise, Echo C2 AI (https://www.velocityexplorations.com/echo/), ingests chaotic, multi-channel voice traffic, transcribes and translates it in real-time, and structures communications into actionable outputs that reduce cognitive load and accelerate commander decision-making cycles. By cutting through the fog of battle and transforming overwhelming radio traffic into clear, actionable information, Echo enables U.S. and partner-nation operators to act faster and more effectively in contested environments.
Velocity's participation also supports the United States' broader AI strategy. Its use at Cobra Gold directly supports the DoD Data, Analytics, and AI Adoption Strategy (https://media.defense.gov/2023/Nov/02/2003333300/-1/-1/1/DOD_DATA_ANALYTICS_AI_ADOPTION_STRATEGY.PDF) (2023), which emphasizes delivering AI at speed across missions, and aligns with the Responsible AI Strategy and Implementation Pathway (2024), which ensures lawful and ethical deployment. Velocity's AI contributions also contributes to the Joint All-Domain Command and Control (JADC2) Strategy, helping deliver the "sense, make sense, act" decision advantage across domains. Together, these strategies — highlighted on AI.gov (https://www.ai.gov?utm_source=chatgpt.com) — call for trusted, operational AI at scale, which Velocity is now demonstrating on the world's largest multinational stage.

Velocity has already participated in the Middle Planning Conference in Hawaii, where U.S. and partner-nation planners synchronized objectives and mission rehearsals for the exercise's 2026 execution. The company's work during Cobra Gold will generate critical user feedback from forward-deployed forces, helping refine its AI-enabled capabilities to align with evolving doctrine, acquisition pathways, and the needs of joint and coalition warfighters.
