Tampa Mayor Jane Castor along with Hillsborough County Commissioner Les Miller addressed public concerns about COVID-19 (coronavirus) during a press conference recently. She stressed that there are no known cases of the illness in the State of Florida but that the City of Tampa will work with its public health and safety partners to ensure readiness and a proper response if necessary.

"Tampa Fire Rescue, alongside Hillsborough County and our emergency management team have plans in place to respond to communicable disease threats, but each type presents unique challenges," Castor said.  "We will remain flexible and adjust our plan as necessary and as we receive guidance from the CDC and government health agencies."
