HILLERØD, Denmark - Floridant -- Danish author Hans Peter Bech announces the publication of The Dollar Compass – Supercomputers, Power Politics, and Moral Deception in the Autumn of the Cold War, the second novel in his series about Henrik Bertelsen.

The book will be released worldwide as an e-book, paperback, hardcover, and audiobook.

The novel follows Henrik Bertelsen, a Danish sales manager working for a struggling American computer company. When a potentially billion-dollar technology project emerges in the Soviet Union, Henrik is sent to Moscow to secure a contract that could help save his employer. What initially appears to be a promising opportunity soon becomes a complex challenge involving hidden political agendas, corruption, and competing interests within the Soviet system.

Although the story unfolds with the suspense of a geopolitical thriller, The Dollar Compass is fundamentally a business novel that examines the realities of international business and the ethical dilemmas professionals face when operating across cultures and political systems.

In Moscow, Henrik must navigate an unfamiliar environment where official procedures often differ from the realities of power and influence. Negotiations involve government ministries, rival suppliers, and informal networks that shape decision-making behind the scenes.

Requests for expensive study trips, unofficial expectations, and internal struggles within the bureaucracy force him to confront difficult questions about where to draw the line between pragmatic compromise and ethical responsibility.

Beyond the geopolitical setting, the novel also explores the personal cost of global careers.

Henrik's demanding international assignment requires frequent travel and long periods away from home, placing increasing pressure on his family life in Denmark. His wife struggles to balance her career with home responsibilities, and Henrik finds it increasingly difficult to maintain his passion for playing in a rock band alongside his professional ambitions.
