NAPLES, Fla. - Floridant -- Boys & Girls Club of Collier County is seeking volunteers to do "whatever it takes" to help youth reach their full potential.
The Club has introduced new volunteer opportunities for those ages 16 and older to support members and have a positive impact on the lives of children and teens in Collier County.
Seasonal and year-round volunteers can serve as mentors, academic tutors, special event volunteers, classroom assistants, athletic coaches, culinary help and program or office assistants. Boys & Girls Club serves nearly 4,000 children and teens annually through its after-school and summer programs.
Boys & Girls Club has many opportunities, such as its "Done in a Day" volunteer program, which allows business leaders to share their experiences and insights with students. Previous volunteers represented health care, finance, education, legal, retail, hospitality, law enforcement, fire protection and other fields. One-day volunteer opportunities include career day-like presentations as well as campus beautification projects suitable for an entire team representing a business, neighborhood or civic group.

"Especially after the hurricane, a lot of people have been asking how they can help," said Boys & Girls Club President and CEO Megan McCarthy Beauvais. "Our volunteers include retirees and working professionals representing a variety of industries and occupations. We also have welcomed entire companies that adopted Boys & Girls Club as their nonprofit of choice, sending a steady stream of volunteers into our clubs."
Volunteers also have opportunities to be a consistent tutor or mentor in classrooms to support staff efforts. All volunteers must be at least 16 years old, submit a brief application, attend a volunteer training session and complete a background screening. Volunteer opportunities are available at two Club locations in Collier County: Nichols Club at 7500 Davis Blvd. in Naples and Bolch Club at 1155 Roberts Ave in Immokalee as well as at seven Miracle sites in Immokalee.
