NAPLES, Fla. - Floridant -- The CareSource Foundation has awarded Better Together, a nonprofit dedicated to families and children, with a $15,000 grant to support its programs.
The grant, awarded through the CareSource Foundation Grant Challenge, will support the local nonprofit in its efforts to provide a variety of resources to meet the growing needs of Florida families and children.
Better Together is made up of two programs – Better Families and Better Jobs – that help parents who are going through a hard time to keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. To date, Better Together has served over 5,400 children and kept 98% of families together, while helping more than 39,000 job seekers find employment through church-based job fairs across 22 states.
"We are grateful for the support of CareSource and thrilled for this opportunity to further our reach and impact," said Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. "We all need a village. We all need family. Yet so many families in our community don't have the support system they need to be able to navigate the difficulties that come with life and parenting. Our mission aims to help parents who are going through a challenging time to keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive."

The CareSource Foundation Grant Challenge aims to recognize organizations and programs that make significant impacts on communities' toughest health issues and to inspire innovation on reducing health disparities. This includes moving the needle on health equity, especially for those with special care needs, both health and social. Following review by CareSource Review Committee and CareSource Foundation staff, the nonprofit was selected to receive the grant via public vote.
"Floridians know best which organizations are moving the needle on the intricate needs of medically complex children in their communities, so the CareSource Foundation is looking to follow their lead," said Jenny Michael, senior vice president of advocacy at CareSource.
