OCALA, Fla. - Floridant -- Better Together, a nonprofit dedicated to families and children, has announced LaShara Lofton as executive director of its North Central Florida region.
At Better Together, Lofton will work alongside CEO Megan Rose to oversee, support and grow Better Together's presence in 18 counties spanning from Marion County to Madison County. She leads the development of Better Together programs locally and spearheads their growth by cultivating and building new relationships with donors, community partners, volunteers and churches.
Lofton has over 20 years of experience working in child welfare and case management and is dedicated to family preservation and stabilization. Previously, she worked in several roles for the Florida Department of Children and families.
"We are thrilled to welcome LaShara into this leadership role and watch her flourish as she serves families across the North Central Florida community," said Megan Rose, CEO of Better Together. "We know her years of experience working with children and families will be an invaluable asset as we expand our impact in this region. We are confident that her leadership will help strengthen families and bring lasting change, and we can't wait to see all she accomplishes with Better Together."
More on The Floridant
Better Together helps parents who are going through a hard time to keep their kids out of foster care, find work and address the root causes of their struggle so that they can reunite as a family with the tools and support system to thrive. With the help of donors and hundreds of volunteers and church communities, Better Together builds lasting support systems that help families cope with hardships – such as job loss, substance abuse, homelessness and incarceration – and ensures that children are cared for in a safe home until the family can be reunited.
The organization's previous executive director for North Central Florida, Devin McKnight, recently advanced to a national leadership role as senior director of church relations and volunteer mobilization. Better Together is continuing to expand its programs across the state and is hiring additional team members to join in its efforts to help more families achieve independence, stay together and thrive.
