Benchmark General Contractors to break ground on 14-unit Gulf Beach Condominium on Sanibel Island

SANIBEL ISLAND, Fla. - Floridant -- Benchmark General Contractors will break ground on Monday, Aug. 31 on Gulf Beach Condominium, a new 14-unit residential condominium building at 527 E. Gulf Drive on Sanibel Island. The project, awarded by Gulf Beach Condominium Association in April 2026, marks another significant milestone in the ongoing rebuilding of Sanibel following Hurricane Ian.

The 28,542-square-foot development will rise two stories above parking on a single building footprint and will offer residential condominium living for full-time and seasonal residents. Amenities will include a pool and a dune crossover ramp, providing direct beach access for residents. Construction is expected to be completed by October 2027.

"This project is a reflection of how far Sanibel has come since Hurricane Ian, and how much further this community is determined to go," said Brad Nickel, president of Benchmark General Contractors. "Fourteen families will call this home, and that means everything to us.
